Botev Plovdiv win Bulgarian Supercup

Botev Plovdiv lifted Bulgarian Supercup in Burgas

Bulgarian Cup winner Botev Plovdiv defeated champions Ludogorets 5-4 after penalties to win Bulgarian Supercup at Lazur Stadium in Burgas.

The Canaries have opened the scoring after 15 minutes of play. Todor Nedelev with a perfect free kick from 25 yards put the ball in Ludogorets net.

Champions have reacted quickly but have been unlucky after hitting the post three times. First Marcelinho has struck Botev’s right post after a free kick. Later on, same right post has¬†prevented Abel Anicet from scoring

Before the break, Claudiu Keser√ľu had some good chances to equalize as well as Ludogorets hitting the post again.

Champions have started the second half aggressively, and Wanderson has equalized after just two minutes in. Eagles have continued dictating the tempo and dominating the game but have failed to score more.

Everything has been decided by the penalties, where Botev proved to be the better team. Ludogorets all time BFPL goal scorer Marcelinho has missed the first penalty for the champions, which have been costly. Lachezar Baltanov, Fernando Viana, Viktor Genev, Felipe Brisola and Plamen Dimov have scored all five penalties for the Canaries and have secured the Bulgarian Supercup for the Plovdiv team.

In space of few months, Botev Plovdiv defeated Ludogorets twice to win a trophy. First, it was Bulgarian Cup in May and now Bulgarian Supercup.
