Ivaylo Petev has resigned as Bulgaria NT coach, Bulgarian Football Union confirmed on Wednesday.
41-year-old used a clause in his contract that allows him to terminate it early after payment of a penalty. He is now ready to take over at Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb.
Petev’s assistant Aleksi Zhelyazkov and the doctor Valentin Velikov also leave the national team.
Under Ivaylo Petev Bulgaria played 14 games, won five of them, lost six and draw three. Scored 13 goals and conceded 26.
Ivaylo Petev’s biggest success as national team coach is definitely the victory over European champions Portugal in March 2016.
